Survey on Acqua Star... Side scan sonar, Magnetometer, Profiler

Salut,

    Now U're talking!
I have a feeling that you will end up doing the scuba diving for pleasure only and more so in Cozumel than the Moroccan coast.
On the other hand, I see a huge marine business in your future...
Whatever you do, I am certain you WILL succeed...
We're cheering for you from afar. Good luck.

    Salut Momo...
Yes now I am talking real stuff : 1500$/day working at sea !
Cool ;-) you want to invest in some "survey" equipment ?
    BouB.
Still wondering what TSHA means ?

As a matter of fact yes I do.
U tell me what kind. We could start small and expand...
U know after Katrina for example, there was a humongous quantity of marine salvage auctioned off to hte highest bidder. And now with the $ in free fall, there could be lots of bargains.
You would have to come visit and bring your expertise...
    We'll figure out the rest.

Hello "Momo Ex Beauf" and may be "Momo futur associate"...
For survey jobs I need to invest in :
    1) one U/W Proton magnetometer (or two) with interface.
    2) two U/W metal detectors with headset.
    3) one sidescan sonar with interface (or two)
    4) some DGPS with compass
    5) some portable computers (or rack computers)
    6) interface software (but that's my job!!!)

You can have a look at http://www.aquascan.co.uk
    http://www.seascape.nl
    and in the US http://www.geocities.com/~magman123/

    Bises to TSHA...

    OK,
So What's your "guesstimate" on the total cost for this equipment?

    OK,
It looks like it might cost about $30k-40K.
    Is that about right?
The ULTRA MAG magnometer and the AQUA SCAN digital side scan seem like some pretty powerful equipment. What do you think?

If I understand correctly the pics on the post are of equipemnt that THEY brought with them and not your own. Am I correct?
If so, and just from looking at the geocities site, it looks like their equipment is bulkier and older than some the newer equipment on that site.
It looks like for about $30k (including a trip to Louisiana for you & me) you could be in the surveying business.
Now how much surveying business is there??

    Hello Momo ex-Beauf...
    Yes the equipment is theirs...
And yes for 30k we could start to play in the survey business and then decide if we need to "push" further...
30k investments, if I remember my business maths is 6 days of survey per year sold 1,5k/day... No ?
So we would have to sell a week per year of survey so it's worth investing...
    Correct-me if I am wrong...

    Now:
The going price of $1500/day is only for chartering the boat isn't it? It's not for you actually doing the survey?
    Questions:
1/ What licences do you have to have to survey and would you be interesetd in gettig them?
2/ How much survey business is there? Is this kind of survey only one of a kind, or is there more demand?
Finally, can you tell me what you think of the equipment on the geocities webs site vs. the one your customers brought?

Oh,and Yes your math seems correct.
I'm assuming 4 years return on investment net of expenses or $9k-$1.5k/year for 4 years based on one survey assignment.

Shoot me an e-mail when you can.

Am I coming along to Louisiana?
After all, this boat is mine, too.
Howdy, bro? I'm not sure I want to do business with you. You may be as gifted as Dad for making money :-)
Thank u, Boub, for taking my defense against the nasty Momo.
    I love U both
    The ex...

Well u know as they say: sticks and stones may break my bones...
    That still hurt though :)
I see you're in good spirit because your comments are particularly scathing! However, i'm glad to know you're an owner of the boat. U see, I figure u don't have any kids, and one day u're share will be mine! I'm just going by what moroccan law says :)
Now, as far as the making money part goes, you're right. Better let Captain Bob handle that. I think he'll do just fine.
Me, I'm just hoping u could hire me in your new company. I'll do a little translating for you. On my days off, i'll go help Captain wash the boat...

Hey Momo Ex-Beauf and Bou Ex-ToutCourt...

    1) Yes ! Bou is 50% holder of the boat chairs thru the compnany Terre Azur. And if the maths don't go wrong Momo, she "should" live longer than us (woman vs man statistics) ! So I am afraid that for you, moroccan law or not does not matter ;-)

    2) For Bou... who told you that we (Momo and I) where going to go into survey business under Terre Azur company ;-)

    3) To both, this "professional" diving/survey business is a gift... As I have decided to live here in Morocco, and I am trying to live from the investments we (Bou and I) have done so far, I must take SERIOUSLY all the opportunities even if they ask (more) investments and even if I don't have the cash to do it...

    4) And please, keep your "child fighting" out of my blog please ;-) people (nass) are watching you !

    A+
    BouB.
